FM ADVENTURES: My Three Day Trip in Beijing.

It’s been a crazy past few days. The big Powerhouse concert, and right after our performance I had to jet out to Beijing. I promised my parents a few years ago that I would go on this trip with them and the children’s choir they run. Luckily, they understood how big Powerhouse was so they let me stay til after the show.

As a compromise tho, I had to catch a midnight flight so I could get at least 3 days in China to help them. But that ALSO meant I missed Jay-Z’s set. Knowing my luck, it was probably the best show ever and the other guys are gonna rub it in just like the “Glow in the Dark” Tour (I had finals during the time).

In any case, I cut it REALLY close on boarding the plane (I had to see the homies LMFAO) but I still made it.

Got to our hotel…we were on the 31st floor!

it was a great view:

But before I could even take a shower, the electricity went out so we had to evacuate. Meaning I would be spending the whole day til midnight still in the same sweat from Powerhouse and a 15 hour flight. No bueno…

From that point, I was so tired and nasty I didnt really take pictures for the rest of the day. But I woke up bright and early the next day because we were headed to…

THE GREAT WALL.

So we’re getting close and I see Beijing’s version of the Hollywood sign…the 2008 Olympics Slogan “One World, One Dream”:

It’s a lot of work walking up all those stairs but it was definitely worth it.

It was still seriously HOT, so I took some time out to try some ice cream. Some lady talked us into trying some CORN FLAVORED ice cream.

Surprisingly, it was pretty good!

Little Caroline gave it a thumbs up:

Next, we headed out to Dragon Island. It’s called that because the place is shaped like one. They kinda took the theme and ran with it…

We saw this and wondered what it was…

With no fear, we headed straight into the BELLY OF THE BEAST…

Turns out it was just an escalator…haha. But it was kind of funny that the end of it was walking thru a long smelly brown cave…YUCK.

Then we jumped onto a boat and headed off to another mysterious location:

Definitely enjoying the view:

They dropped us off at ANOTHER cave. This one was pretty dope…didn’t understand exactly why they had these cool little life sized scenes but it made the walk very entertaining:

After some walking, we find out the only way down is by TOBOGGAN!!! I used to love riding these things at Big Bear during the Summer:

We raced down and shot straight back into the bus for dinner. They took us to the best Korean restaurant in China called “SURAON.”

No pics unfortunately. I guess the owners didn’t want to let out the secrets of the restaurant. In any case, the kids LOVED it.

We had some MAJOR food coma, so the next thing I knew it was morning the next day. The kids were giddy because we were going shopping.

Shopping in China is a TRIP. First off, the first price is NEVER the real price, its an OFFER. If they say its $100, you tell them $10. Then after a gang of posturing, you end up pretty close to $20 usually. The haggling that goes on is crazy…you’ve really got to be patient because you are going to go through this EVERY time. But you have to, because 100% of the products there are just really high quality knock offs that they leave on display for everyone to see. Some of these kicks looked pretty legit:

What do yall think about this one?

After a few hours it was time to eat again…this time we had some PEKING DUCK. Funny thing I learned: The best part of the duck is the SKIN. Not just because it tastes good but the duck is plugged up when it is cooked so the nutrients go thru the pores.

They eat their duck like Chinese tacos…haha:

Before I knew it, it was time to go hit the airport to fly back.

While waiting at the terminal, I bumped into our friend Loan during the transfer in Korea. What are the chances of that? haha She’s been there training to be a b-girl for the past few months.

And now I’m back. Seems more like a few weeks worth of stuff rather than 5 days but I’m glad I went through it. You gotta test yourself sometimes.

The party don’t stop til they call the cops tho…tomorrow we’re off to SAN DIEGO to perform with LMFAO at the House of Blues. Then a weeklong ISA TICKET TOUR with shows along the way and maybe a MUSIC VIDEO SHOOT?

stay tuned.
