FM PRoHgress Fires hit close to home

FM FAMILY: FIRES HIT CLOSE TO HOME

For those that have seen the news on the wild fires out here around LA, its definitely hitting close to home. They’re saying the air quality has been the worst ever, bad enought to make you cough and hurt your eyes.

Our guitarist and bassist in our band, Dean and Sug Parra, have a house/recording studio called Hilltop Studios up in Anahiem Hills which is in the heart of the fires. We were watching the news when we heard… “theres and intense fire off the Weir Canyon exit off the 91 freeway.. homes are burning in Laureltree ave”… i was thinking “THATS DEAN AND SUGS EXIT AND STREET!”

I called Dean to make sure he was all good but no answer the whole night.

On the news they said over 800 homes had been burned with the whole area evacuated. They also reported that the fires were so large they could be seen from space. I finally got a hold of Dean who said him and his family evacuated. They all had to evacuate and he had a crazy story to share…..

He said that around 12 or 1, they all had to evacuate because they could feel the embers and the heat of the fire on they’re street, and the smoke was intense. He could only grab what he could carry which meant he had to leave all his beautiful recording equipment.

They were finally able to return to his street to find out that houses had burned down on his street….. and when they arrived… thank the LORD… his home was still in tact, but his neighbors house was burned and a few others had burned to ashes.

He had found out that one of his neighbors across the street was an offduty cop and had stayed behind, and another was an old vietnamese man that stayed behind as well. They stayed up all night drenching all they’re neighbors houses with water and putting out small fires starting on trees here and there, virtually saving the rest of the neighborhood. Thats pretty amazing… TRUE HEROES.

We were all praying for Dean and his family, and we pray for everyone else that fell victim to this fire. Its heartbreaking to see that people can loose everything in a flash… especially at a time like this when the economy is ruff with people loosing they’re homes and jobs.

All we can do is have faith and appreciate each day we’re alive.

I wanted to cry when I read those two men stayed behind and kept their neighbors homes as safe as they could. They are truly heroes.

My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this disaster. I hope that you all living around there stay safe and these fires don’t get any worse.

amazing story. i heard the news report that it might be arson, especially since there are a few fires all around southern california.. and many of the houses were ‘for sale’. could be an insurance scam?

that would be sad if so.

i was staying at one of my homeys pad in diamond bar, right off the 91 from the 60, we eventually ended up getting evacuated. From there on I left back down to Rowland and Hacienda, and it was kinda trippy, it was snowing!… ashes.. that is.. lol! hard times, but everybody gotta keep their heads up, multi-million dollars homes burned to the ground, recession in our economy, seems like god is trying to pull us all together to work and strive together, to eliminate that invisible pyramid that we all get capped off on in society, remember we are all equal, no matter of our color, race, or income. PEACE FAM WITH 3 FINGA’S IN THE AIR!

I didnt start realizing the fires till I saw the news too .. man its crazy cause I’m currently posted in ontario near chino hills so everythings getting real screwed up here.. I felt so inspired by what the offduty cop and elder did for their community.. proves there is and always will be some real good people out there..

Im prayin for everyone to stay safe and for them to try to contain the fires so it dosen’t spread, especially close to la, which is home to most of us =(
