FM ADVENTURE: DINNER & MOVIE W/ FM.
(EATING FM food review included)
In June we held a contest called Win Dinner and a Movie w/ FM for anyone that bought a ticket to our history making SOLD OUT ROXY SHOW. There were a ton of people that entered and we wish everyone could win.. cuz getting to know the people that rep the Far East Movement means good times for us, but there could only be 1 winner and that winner was chosen out of a hat the night of the Roxy show right before we took the stage.
It was now that time we take the winners out… and decided since the grand prize was Dinner and a Movie with us, the best place would be The Grove on Fairfax and third since there’s a bunch of good spots to eat and a dope movie theater.

We walked around trying to find a good restaurant around there but since we aint the smartest doods on the planet we did’t think to make a reservation on the weekend.. so we tried Cheesecake Factory and 2 other spots that all had an hour or so wait.. NO THANK YOU. Ended up searching around the mall like wolves lookin for steak…

and we ended up sniffing out the perfect place that happen to have steak to sink our teef into… plus there was no wait haha .. Welcome to Wood Ranch.

Now its time for…..
EATING FM – “WOOD RANCH RIDERS”
The winner of the contest was a cool girl named Shira from Fullerton,CA .. who was able to bring 1 friend named Jen.. and they reppin FM with 3 Fingers up!

Jen and Shira thinkin “guys, this is a bbq house and we’re vegetarians…” LOL jk
Food and Movie review after the jump…
Now, you can always judge how good the food is at a restaurant by the small things.. and the first thing that always comes out at a sit down joint is the bread. If the bread is stale or just plain ol bread.. the food could be kinda boring, and if the bread is extra soft n chewy and they take the time to add butter n garlic n greens on top… they treat the main courses with the same love.

The bread came out and it was BANGIN. Them rolls were softer than marsh mellows and hooked up with melted butter and garlic n greens and salt all over them things. Prohgress don’t even mess with bread but was poppin them rolls like m&m’s. Now we can expect the food here to be bueno.

The menu was packed with bbq style dishes like tri-tip, baby back ribs, bbq chicken, bbq pork sammiches, coleslaw, mac n cheese and anything else fit for an outdoor bbq… check out what we ordered:
J-Splif and Prohgress both ordered the Half BBQ Chicken with coleslaw and fries

Jen got a bbq steak sandwich with sweet potato fries n 2 types of sauce to dip in.

Shira got bbq steak sandwich with mac n cheeze

I got a tri-tip salad with fried onion rings on top… eh doesn’t all that defeat the purpose of a healthy salad? haha.

Does that steak look a little too pink to you?
After all the chompin and chewin… i think my dish was the big winner, but everyone really liked what they got… check out what happened to HALF a chicken…. it didn’t make it thru the night…

What WE Thought:
Restaurant: Wood Ranch
Location: The Grove in Hollywood
Price Range: Medium.. like $12-$25 per plate
We recommend: Tri-Tip Salad (just make sure they cook the steak good)
Service: Awesome. Waiter was asking us movie trivia questions all night for a chance to win free appetizers, deserts and even a chance to win a free meal..but the questions were too hard for us.. the free dinner question was “I will name 10 Transformers, tell me which ones are Autobots or Decepticons, and you only need to get 8 out of 10″. That’s a 50/50 chance for each Transformer.. but we only got 6 outta 10 of pure guesses.
Rating: – **2.5 Fingers Up!
I dont fiend to eat here, but i’d recommend it if the mall is packed cuz the food is dope enough for you to feel like ‘tonights gunna be a good night’…

Second half of the prize… Movie time with FM. Once again, us not being the geniuses our parents wished for.. we thought we would be able to buy movie tickets to any movie we want and right before the movie starts… on the weekend? BIG MISTAKE.
We kept hearing District 9 was pretty dope on twitter, so we all wanted to see it bad but just our luck that tickets would be sold out.. so the next nearest movie we could all agree on was G.I. Joe. Yall that read this blog might remember how much i love G.I. JOE (past post here) so i was pretty excited to see this even tho the superbowl trailer looked terrible and the twitter was going off saying how bad it was… but you never know, sometimes someone can find treasure in another man’s garbage so we had to see wasssssup.
Remember this? kinda the rise of anime to the mainstream.. what we grew up on…

**This tune will not leave your head for the rest of the day.. you can thank me later..**
We’re all kinda excited since we chose to approach this with and open mind. Its been years since we’ve been able to go to a theater.. and as group, i think FM has only been to the theater together once ever maybe so tonight is a big deal for us..

We gotta do it RIGHT.
Just our luck.. the theater was pizzzacked. Every seat up top and to the middle and front was full so we couldn’t even split up our group if we wanted to… and the only seats left in the whole spot were in the very very very very front row. The screens at the Grove a bit larger than regular theaters, so it already has that imax feel.. so being in the front row is like putting your FACE one foot away from a big screen tv.. while the movie was playing we couldn’t see the full screen just by looking, you had to pan right to left like a tennis match every time someone was talking…
Left side of the screen..

Right side of screen…

This kinda made being THIS close not so bad of a thing…
How shall i describe this movie (especially from the front row) .. imagine a plate of super spicy curry eaten by a stranger, walk into an elevator with that person and they rip the craziest burning fart on earth and the door closes before you can get out…

That is exactly how to describe G.I. Joe from the front row of a mini imax. Roger and Ebert got that thumbs up or thumbs down system right?

The night was still off the hook.. Things for us have been busier than usual and we’re blessed to have people reppin our music like they do so it was great to have a chance to get to know a few people that rep FM. Thank you to the Winners for being so cool and thanks to everyone that entered the contest to support our show.

Autographing the Movie tickets
