FM PRoHgress EASTSIDE EATING FM BATTLES

EASTSIDE EATING FM BATTLES

Last stops on the All Hearts Tour with Robyn, Kelis n Dan Black… wild ride.

Picked up a bus for the rest of the cities n drove to DC first. I prefer buses more cuz airports have become too complicated. I gotta love the fact TSA is making our world a safer place but getting punked by them every morning at 6am for early flights can take its toll HAHA.

Washington, DC
Got into DC a little late, threw our stuff in the hotel and headed straight over 9:30 Club where we were peforming. Funny cuz we’re askin “where is the venue tonight?” and they was tellin us “9:30″… us “NAH.. where is the show? we go on at 6:30pm.. are they promoting that we’re going on at 9:30pm? ahhh shiiiiii**.” LOL u had to be there.

Backstage before the show we hit up the chatroom on Cherrytreerecords.com.. whenever we’re traveling and we hit the chat up it feels like a home away from home. Get to talk to family n zone out. Had to give the fam in the chat a play-by-play during robyn’s set. Then after our set we met cool fam named Aylin Vasar who interviewed us for URB.COM. Was dope cuz she was originally from Cali and moved to DC and she was a fan of our homies Wong Fu Productions and International Secret Agents which was fly. Shouts to Matt Suh n the DC crew for takin us around after the show on the search after after party.

Philadelphia, PA – “CHEESESTEAK BATTLE: GENO’s Vs PAT’s”
2 hour drive over to philly. only 1 thing was on everyone’s mind… finding that real PHILLY CHEESESTEAK. People been tellin us about the battle between Geno’s and Pat’s. We heard its the good spot for a quick simple and authentic cheesesteak…

Saturday night online radio show in philly to answer some questions from fans off a laptop on cam. thk yall for the good questions

Right after our show at the Trocadero inbetween the meet n greet time we boned out to get cheesesteaks. We pulled up to what looked like “Cheesesteak Blvd” or something crazy cuz on this one street was Geno’s lookin like a casino in AC and right across the street was the competition.. PATS. Me n Jsplif been hypin this up for way too long so we ended up getting 1 from Geno’s n 1 from Pats and splittin em just so they could compare which one was the king of philly.

Me: “I was originally drawn to Geno’s cuz the lights and presentation of the building made me think the food would be better quality, so the marketing at Geno’s definitely wins but the food was pretty much the same. I like them both.. i can’t decide.. can i get 2 more?”

Kev Nish: “not feeling fly like a cheeseteak today.. gonna look for some shrimp.”

Virman: “I ran 3 miles today.”

Jsplif: “I gotta give the crown to Pats. The bread was softer and the steak was more flavorful”

Pat’s.

Eating FM Decision: PAT’s gets the 3 Fingers Up

New York, NY
Few hours on the road n we back in NY. Fam been tellin us the spot in NY that’s better than Fatburger and In-n-out in cali would be: Shake Shack

Not even gonna check into our  hotel till we try the shack…

We’re not trying to believe there’s a franchise burger chain that tastes better than fatburger and in-n-out… you might remember the battle we had way back with “Fatburger vs In-n-Out” that got pretty heated, so we’re going to throw Shake Shack into the mix for a 3 way battle. We were also with our girl Jessica from People Mag who is also reppin LA so these judges are gonna be critical.

The line was out the door.. like some kind of ride at disneyland.. and that jus meant we had to do it even more. Dude outside was handing out menus… dam got a better selection than fatburger and in-n-out.. 4 kinds of hotdogs, burgers, all kinds of shakes, beer, cupcakes and even cupcakes for dogs? dam.

Ordered the Standard Shake Shack burger… pattie, bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, special shack sauce..

dam.. and had to get a works dog.. ketchup, mustard, relish, spicy peppers, onions, cucumber

One thing they had on the menu that i wont ever understand is a peanut butter milkshake. jsplif swears its the best thing ever invented but i dont get the idea of drinking peanut butter. J ordered it and was downing it faster than shots of patron like it was the best thing he ever drank so i asked for a sip. Huge f*in mistake. U might disagree but it was one of the worst tasting things i’ve ever drank.. and i love peanut butter.. but with jelly on bread. Its one of those flavors you don’t expect to drink and have it refresh you. Sorry but i gotta hate on Splif’s most favorite drink on the planet HAHA.

Selection wise.. Shake Shack beats Fatburger and In-N-out hands down. When we break down the taste and ingredients of the burgers tho… we all took a vote and heres how it lined up:

Eating FM Burger Battle Results:
1. FATBURGER (i disagree with this but everyone else voted this. My number 1 is In-n-out) – over all pattie and ingredients are better quality, juicier bites. plus, you can add an egg to your burger. Kev, J, Virman say its the winner.

2. SHAKE SHACK – Pattie was bigger than In-n-out n the bun was better than both Fatburger and In-n-out. But over all the ingredients couldn’t fade Fatburger.

3. In-N-Out – My personal favorite, but the crew feels it has the smallest pattie and simplest ingredients. They still can’t pass it up when they see it and i even see these fools ordering 2 burgers at a time, but they won’t vote it the best.

FM J-Splif EATING FM “BOMB GUACAMOLE”

FM SATELLITES Episode 31: EATING FM “BOMB GUACAMOLE”

Its rare that there’s a good mexican restaurant in LA that we havent tried.. but this is one of them. The Cherrytree El Adobe event was crackin n the best part of it was the free ‘all u can eat’ mexican food. Like we said, raised on legit mexican food so we’re extra critical. We did a video Eating FM food review on this Satellites.. here’s the food review scale…

EATING FM Rating system:

***3 Fingers up – MUST EAT.. crave for it.. amazing food. If you dont try it your missing out on life…

**2 Fingers up – Great Taste, if you get a chance… try it… i recommend it.

* 1 Finger up
– Kinda wish i didnt eat there or order what i ordered … but i ate it and now im full.

- Middle Finger up – i threw it away while eating it… if i had a brick i’d throw it through the window.. and if i had lighter fluid and a lighter.. i’d burn that mutha down…

Lets see if the ingredients add up to the coveted “3 Fingers Up” Eating FM Rating….

FM PRoHgress EATING FM “BLOODY SAC”

EATING FM “RAW BLOODY SAC”
(Food Review)

Right off the plane in Sacramento.. yep weee’re back. Met up with the 4C The Power organization for a meet n greet dinner.. and had to do it like the “Like A G6″ video.. so they took us to the known Korean BBQ spot in Sactown called OZ… Lets see if it hangs with LA

In LA we usually do the ‘all you can eat’ cuz we’re beasts… so it was good to know they do it like that here… cuz if your gonna bbq u gotta make sure u eat till ur sweatin meat.. can’t just sit down at a place, cook your own meat on a grill and leave still hungry. nah… BUT.. we do have a show later in the night with HOT 1035 so we kept it simple.

Lets start with the Bulgogi… marinated thin pieces of beef… raw n bloody plate till you grill it and kill it.

extra orders of kalbi.. ribs put meat on ur ribs.

Chef J-Splif who is our George Forman master grillman gives this spot 3 Fingers up. The whole 4C The Power team give the spot a big 3 fingers up too.. so if ur in Sactown n lookin to grill and chill family style hit up OZ Kbbq. Im pretty picky livin in LA when it comes to kbbq n this spot feels like home.

What WE Thought:

Restaurant: OZ Korean BBQ

Location: Sacramento

Price Range: $15 a head, all you can EAT or order solo.

Service: Service at Korean restaurants don’t have to be good, thats why there’s a button on every table so you can press that biiiitch till they bring you what you need. Gotta love it.

What we recommend: Bulgogi n Kalbi is safe anywhere u go.

Rating: – ***3 Fingers Up – When not in LA its good to have a taste of home away from home.

Visited our family at sactown radio station HOT 1035 for an on air interview. Huge thanks to Pattie (a diet coke addict like me), Shorte, DJ Mofo, DJ Sn1, Danny Mijangos, Freeze and the whole crew for having us and bringing us out and Killa B n our incredible Interscope team that was out there with us.

The station threw a New @ 2 show at Dream and had us perform along with Chiddy Bang, Alexis Jordan and Kardinal Official.. place got sooo nuts we did “Like A G6″ twice. Sactown is sick, thank yall for reppin the Far East Movement like that…Shouts to the FM Promoteam out there, 4C The Power Team, Mase, Max Murder, Johnny, Kalikwest, Whorehay the the crew n all the free wired party people in Sacramento.

FM n Kardinal Official… DANGEROUS.

FM PRoHgress EATING FM: “LA BREAKFAST”

EATING FM: “LA BREAKFAST”

Before class we never started the day with a bowl a cereal or an egg mc muffiin. Breakfast in LA is all about the breakfast burritos. First thing we do off a early morning flight back in LA after any tour is get a dope breakfast burrito downstairs from where we live in downtown. We had a breakfast meeting with our homies at Skee TV and Broken Glass Music Company out in West LA so we hit up a spot near the Skee office called Rubio’s Cafe. Just off the pictures in the window this looked like a homerun for sure, but breakfast burritos are a tricky thing and we’re food network when it comes to gettin it right.

Skee TV fam and Manny from BGMC

This place is dope cuz they got the og picture menu and the flics look just like what u get, thats important.. not like ordering a picture of a quarter pounder lookin all juicy in the pic and gettin some smashed all bread burger. They got all kinds a good breakfast plates like huevos a la mexicana, huevos rancheros, fried eggs with rice n beans, breakfast sandwiches… but we came for the breakfast burritos. Stay focused.

they got 4 kinds a ways to order the breakfast burrito.. the 2 i wanted were the Chorizo n egg burrito or the rubios burrito with eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, beans. I went and remixed it and got a Rubio’s burrito with Chorizo instead of bacon and rice instead of potatoes. All i gotta say is they should pay us for inventing that and need to throw that combination on the menu…

This burrito tasted like air cuz i inhaled it… lol

Every bite needs salsa piled on like that, no less. make sure to order like 3 salsas.

They have the good fresh squeezed OJ and official homemade salsa. Even tho these are on the side, without these as part of the team it wont be a winner.. gotta have all the players.

If yall ever in West LA more near Venice/ Culver City where Robertson n Venice meet… hit this place up and get the FM style breakfast burrito, you’ll always get it that way if you do.

What WE Thought:

Restaurant/ Dish: Rubio’s Cafe – Breakfast Burrito

Location: West Los Angeles

Price Range: $6-7 for a burrito -thanks to Skee Tv.. we got yall next one!

Service: homestyle.

What we recommend: Remix the Rubios burrito, substitute the bacon for chorizo n the potatoes for rice and get 3 extra salsas on the side.

Rating: – ***3 Fingers Up – the only way to start a day in LA with 3 fingers up.

FM Kevnish EATING FM “SKOR’D”

EATING FM “SKOR’D”

Grub time… The FM Promoteam and 4C The Power Team organized a team dinner when we were up there to perform for the Independence High School Prom

We stay free wired. Geekin out at the restaurant, the whole crew came lap topped up.

After inhalin some shrimp n scallops wrapped in bacon, Ianne who we all call “Ianne Chef” came thru with her world famous baked goods. She gets down on the baking like the Stereotypes get down on buildin beats… Hits.

Made a house out of red velvet cream cheese frosted cupcakes just like them sprinkles ones

Then the chef brought a special box…

I had tweeted that skor bars are the truth one day so she created the banginest way to eat a skor bar i ever had. Some homemade skor cookies. Each bite had a piece of Skor bar, the kind that gets stuck in your teeth. U had to taste it to know it was one of the illest baked creations invented. Thank you Ianne Chef.

These didn’t make it back to LA… murdered.

No need for a full Eating FM Review.. The cupcakes and cookies all get 3 Fingers up with both hands... and they’re extra rare since we can’t get em a store any time we want.

International Secret Agents ready for prom.. looking for dates tho.

FM PRoHgress THE HESTER STREET FAIR w/ SUCHIN PAK

FM ADVENTURE: THE HESTER STREET FAIR WITH SUCHIN PAK

Every time we’re in New York we never have time to explore the culture around the Big Apple. Last trip while up there for Bamboozle we had a few hours off  to visit our friend Suchin Pak from MTV and she took us to a new neighborhood fair on Hester and Essex on the Lower East Side that she put together and will be running through the end of December 2010. Suchin is one of the coolest girls we’ve been blessed enough to meet, even reppin the old school Far East Movement logo tee shirt on MTV TRL during an MTV News break a few years ago. I remember getting calls like “yooo i see your logo on TRL!”

The Hester Street Fair…

The incredible host took me straight to the vendors…

Here were some of the interesting tents that day:

Organic Homemade Cornnuts…

This dog was like their mascot…he seemed to love the cornnuts and all the passers by were encouraged to feed him…I couldn’t resist either.

These pretzels threw me for a loop…

I’ve been struggling the past few weeks trying to think of the perfect Mother’s Day Gift…so Suchin brought me to a vendor who was selling dope homemade jewelry:

They color the pieces with organic dyes and stuff:

Suchin bought one for herself along the way…haha

But the headliner for the day though was definitely the lobster rolls:

Straight from Maine (hence the “from ME to you” tagline), Luke’s Lobster Rolls are famous all along the East Coast so we had to give it the Eating FM taste test:

EATING FM Rating system:

***3 Fingers up – MUST EAT.. crave for it.. amazing food. If you dont try it your missing out on life…

**2 Fingers up – Great Taste, if you get a chance… try it… i recommend it.

What WE Thought:

Restaurant/ Dish: Lobster Roll

Location: Luke’s @ the Hester Street Fair New York

Price Range: apparently, $14 for a roll is a steal in New York… dam inflation! hahah

Service: Friendly. Maybe it was because I came with the boss? haha

What we recommend: obviously the Lobster Roll, with an ice cold Coke to wash it down.

Rating: – ***3 Fingers Up – I’d almost call it the east coast King Taco…ALMOST.

right when we were leaving i ran into some old friends Linette, Kelly, and Ev from Arowana Films (not pictured because he took this one)

whole lot of walking, had to undo the tie…

What a great time eating food, buying gifts, and just chatting with people. The Hester Street Fair is a MUST VISIT if you’re in New York.

FM PRoHgress EATING FM “JAPANESE SOUL FOOD”

EATING FM “JAPANESE SOUL FOOD”
(from Far East Movement x Lady Gaga Monster Ball Tour in Japan)

We remember yall telling us in the Cherrybomb Chatroom to try something called okonomiyaki.. so we was on a mission. When our Universal Japan team asked us what we wanted for our last dinner meeting… okonomiyaki was it.

Pulled up to an old school lookin spot called Bochi Bochi.. place was retro from head to toe.. pretty legit.

Kage from Universal is an OG out there, dinner with him is like watching a really good movie about the music biz. Honor to work with him. He did all the ordering and everything he ordered was a HIT.

Started with one of the tastiest salads ive ever eaten. not sure if it was the custom japanese dressing or the cabbage.. jus bomb.

Kimi from the Universal Japan team rolled thru and let us know that “Okonomiyaki” is considered japanese soul food or comfort food out there. Its a pan fried pancake made of yakisoba noodles, bits of beef n pork, a fried egg and mayo on top with veggies.. everything u need for a bomb bite. They brought us a seafood pancake, then a cheese pancake, then a noodle omlette pancake.. u cut them up in pieces and share family style.

This is SERIOUS… Okonomiyaki is all our new favorite food in japan. How come no one in LA told us bout this good ass pancake?? how come we aint in the club? Every bite was off the hook.

To finish this old school meal off, there was a retro japanese cotton candy machine out front. Kage let us know how its done: you pop in some change, and some raw sugar starts grinding and whipping around in the machine. Then u put a stick in the machine and collect all the cobbwebs till you get a clump of homemade cotton candy. straight sugar for the sweet tooth.

International secret agent meal.

FM J-Splif EATING FM “CURRY UP”

EATING FM “CURRY UP”
(from FM x Lady Gaga Monster Ball Tour In Japan)

Bullet train got us to Tokyo in a few hours and right when we arrived we hit up the Bathing Ape main office to meet Matt and Nigo. They hooked up some unreleased kicks and Mr Bathing Ape ties for our stay in Japan and a few upcoming shoots we got scheduled. Def appreciate the love.

Fetish for them kicks.

after checking out the new stuff in the the showroom, we still haven’t eating anything since Kobe, so we headed to Nigo’s restaurant called “Curry Up”. Cool fact, Matt told us Pharrell named the restaurant.

The menu is straight to the point.. Curry. They got butter chicken, spicy beef, egg plant, spinach.. and its not the typical japanese curry. Matt from Bape recommended the butter chicken which is more liquid-like like japanese or thai curry, and the eggplant curry is thicker like indian style curry. Me, Proh and Virman ordered the butter chicken and spicy beef combo and kev got the egg plant and butter chicken curry combo

Eggplant Curry, Rice, Butter Chicken

Diced pickles you put in the rice.

Spicy beef was SPICY.

Check the sweat-nique.

Family Style: Matt from BAPE, Russ and Ted of Stampede Management (FM’s Managers), DPD of Transparent Agency, Far East Movement

Fashionably full.

banging first meal in tokyo. i’ve always been into curry and raised on the japanese curry and to me, Curry Up has the best curry i’ve ever had. I want the butter chicken every day. If yall are ever around tokyo i recommend you find Curry Up… they need to hurry up and make on in LA just for FM.

The Far East Movement is now energized jus right to hit the stage with Lady Gaga for our first show in Tokyo…

FM J-Splif EATING FM “KOBE BEEF BOWLIN”

EATING FM “KOBE BEEF BOWLIN”
(from FM x Lady Gaga Monster Ball Tour in Japan)

Since we’re in Kobe it would have been nice to try a $200 Kobe Steak… but lets do the next best thing, a vending machine style beef bowl in the streets of Kobe. This restaurant was like a Yoshinoya in Cali, but instead of ordering at a cash resister with someone working at the counter… you order your combo beef bowl thru a vending machine.. just press the button that looks the best

I got the beef bowl with salad, soup and an egg for 470 yen which is like $5… now that’s my type of deal. U might be thinkin ur gonna get a bowl of slop that’s bad quality since your ordering from a machine but its the total opposite. The machine spits out your ticket and change and in a few minutes a server brings you out a feast. Its waaay better than any Yoshinoya beef bowl i’ve ever had the states.. the quality is bangtastic and the portion is huge.

Our manager Russ wont eat raw fish and cut meat out of his meal plan.. so he had to do this…

By the end of this trip we will figure out a way to make him eat some sushi. Open wide…

Finished off our bomb beef bowl with a vending machine coffee, but this wasn’t any vending machine coffee… this was special. I dropped in the yenzo and out dropped the can, but when i picked up the can it was HOT. Hot coffee in a can from a vending machine, now that’s thorough.

Rick Ross has a new line of coffee
